I adopted my dog from the Maricopa county shelter in September of 2024, Union Hills Animal Hospital was one of the vets on the list of clinics they gave me. I had such a bad experience at my last vet clinic resulting in my dogs death & was not about to go back there. I scheduled an appointment & brought him in for his first check up. Every one in the clinic was very friendly & Dr Goshert was very personable & easy to talk to so I decided this would be my new vet. I had my new dog less than a month when he stopped eating & began vomiting bile. He had ingested what looked like a small piece of corn cobb & it had lodged in his intestine. Dr Goshert showed me his x ray & said if she didn't do surgery he would die. I was shocked to say the least. I had her do the surgery & Bogey is now a happy & thriving four year old pit bull. Bogey would not be here today if it weren't for Dr Goshert, I will be forever grateful. Thank you Dr Goshert.

My first visit to UHAH was in October 1999. My husband and I had recently married and adopted a cocker spaniel (Shiloh). I immediately knew this was our vet for life! The receptionist at that time, Linda, was so sweet and welcoming! Then, out came the devoted young assistant,Jenny, another sweetheart with a big smile. She was so good with the animals! Patient, thorough, and calmly talked you through everything. Then the wonderful Dr. Goshert came in, ready to have a baby herself. We started raising dwarf hamsters! Just a few! We ended up with hundreds for years and I couldn't count how many we took in to our group of ladies at UHAH. Wet tail, diabetes, prolapsed uterus, dangling eye, broken tooth, hamster mom chewed off babies legs (it happens) and even euthanasia at times! Then we got birds, fish, a guinea pig! Then, our pride and joy, a pit bull/lab/sharpei mix (Spencer). We put him on the highest pedestal of all. Scary Smart! Guard Dog/Babysitter/ Counselor/Alarm/Savior & would fake cough around husbands cigarette in protest! Then our beautiful black lab (Sasha). Oh, and another, a 4 lb terrier with an attitude who resembled a large rat and came to us snarling (Sandy). Yep, We were keeping UHAH busy with our farm. They all went above and beyond for all of our animals. Then our son comes by with his dog and says, I am getting a place, they don't allow pets, see ya! Another one joins the pack! A Doberman Shepherd!
Then Hercules himself shows up at our door! A white fluff ball at 8 weeks old and already 30 lbs (Sydney) A pure white Great Pyrenees. Full grown he was (160 lbs & 6ft 3" on hind legs) Yep, UHAH was keeping up 100% with the entire zoo and we were throwing animals at them like snow balls. In 2012, our beloved Spencer was diagnosed with cancer. Dr. Goshert knew it just by his routine blood work and referred us to an oncologist. NO chance! He didn't even seem sick! The oncologist gave him chemo and he got worse! He had lymphoma and could no longer walk! Because our boy was heavy, couldn't walk and I was absolutely broken and couldn't stop crying! Our Compassionate ladies, Dr. Goshert and Jenny came right to our home to put our beautiful boy at peace! It nearly killed me! He was almost 13. Our black lab had Cushings and UHAH kept her comfortable and extended her life. She died on my birthday naturally at 13 & 3 mos.
Sandy, the rat mutt, was a month from 14. Hercules was not a bit upset to see her go!
Dr. Goshert said a good life for a great pyr is 9 to 10 years. At age 9 yrs and 87 days, we had to say goodbye. He hadn't seen Dr. Goshert in A while, as this dog hated the car. So we walked him across the street to a different vet in January. By June, he was gone because they missed a throat tumor in January. This one was the hardest of all to lose!!! I trust ONLY one vet to put my dogs down! I have one dog left. She is 11. I've often said "do others love their dogs as much as I do? Like my kids! OF COURSE they do, that's why they bring them to UHAH. Can't help but think, IF I would have brought my boy to Dr. Goshert in January, He most likely would still be here! 27 years of history with UHAH! I don't trust ANYONE else to put my dogs to sleep! I no longer trust any other vet period. THEY ARE THE BEST. We love you ladies! 🩷
