The doctors and staff here truly care about your pet. Highly recommend. Worth the 5 hour drive each way for me.
Dr. Stainback and Dr. Lombardo are not only wonderful neurologists, but they are also wonderful people. Our baby, Poppy presented with a very complex case. While only 5 years old, her disease was very serious and took her life. For the 5-6 weeks that Poppy was under the care of VNC, we felt they had our best interests in mind and went above and beyond to treat Poppy. She was even hospitalized for 5+ days during this period. Every day the doctor called us. Yes, you heard that right, the actual doctor, which is basically unheard of in today’s day and age. Dr. Stainback and Dr. Lombardo spent countless hours at visits with us, treating Poppy while she was hospitalized, and on the phone with us during extremely difficult conversations to make sure we were fully informed about her condition, the treatment options, and the pros and cons of every medication, procedure, scan, etc. While Poppy succumbed to her disease, I know wholeheartedly that we did everything we could as her family and that Dr. Stainback and Dr. Lombardo did everything they could as her doctors.
When it came time to say goodbye, both doctors spent considerable time with us. Sharing stories of Poppy from her time at VNC, reassuring us that while saying goodbye feels impossible, we should know in our hearts that we truly gave it our all. I acknowledge that this is the worst part of their job, but it brought some peace on an otherwise terrible day to know that everyone that ever met Poppy saw how happy and loving she was and we really appreciate the time and care Dr. Stainback and Dr. Lombardo gave us.
No one wants to be on a first name basis with a neurologist. No one wants their family member to go through any of this, but knowing we had truly amazing and caring professionals to help us does bring peace.
The entire team at VNC is world-class. While I hope to not need their services in the future, I know I am lucky to have found amazing people that love and care about our animals as much as we do.
I can’t say enough good things about our experience with Vet Neuro. From the moment we walked in, everyone was incredibly kind, compassionate, and personal. The reception staff and technicians made us feel genuinely cared for, and that continued throughout our entire visit.
Dr. Costa and Dr. Plummer were both wonderful. They were professional, knowledgeable, understanding, and incredibly patient with my 14-year-old old man, Tug. They took the time to listen to my concerns, thoroughly evaluate him, and talk through our options without ever making us feel rushed. Most importantly, I felt like they understood that, at this stage of Tug’s life, the goal isn’t simply to pursue every possible intervention—it’s to make thoughtful decisions that give him the best quality of life for whatever time he has left. They helped us come up with a plan that truly feels right for him.
As a veterinarian myself, I know how much goes into providing this level of care, and I was extremely impressed with the entire team. It can also be difficult being on the other side of the exam table with your own pet, especially one who has been with you for so many years. I’m incredibly grateful for the compassion, patience, expertise, and kindness they showed both Tug and me.
